Hope Strengthens Foundation was privileged to recently connect with the inspirational Rima Manomaitis. Rima epitomizes the words hope and strength. She was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a chronic lung disease that can impact other organs and lead to infections, breathing problems, and digestive issues. Back in 2017, Rima received a double lung transplant. Her journey to recovery included countless hikes, snowboarding, and daily workouts.
Unfortunately, tests last September revealed Rima’s body identified her lungs as foreign and began to create antibodies against them. An intense treatment cycle followed and she is now on oxygen 24/7. Rima had to relocate to North Carolina so she could be near Duke University Hospital, one of the world’s leading institutions for repeat transplant patients.
Despite Rima’s daily physical challenges, along with the emotional toll of awaiting the call for another double transplant surgery, her positivity and determination shines through!
Hope Strengthens Foundation will be assisting Rima with expenses associated with her care. Donations of any size will be a big help while she is temporarily in North Carolina preparing for her transplant. If you are interested in covering specific care expenses, here are several options (monthly totals):
- Transportation & fuel: $80
- Medical expenses: $150
- Meals/groceries: $300
