Last September, Shelly Yukich was dealing with some aches and pains that required a visit to the hospital. CT scans showed enlarged lymph nodes in her neck and near her stomach with a large mass wrapped around her aorta. Soon after, the doctor diagnosed Shelly with Stage IV Transforming Follicular Lymphoma.
Shelly began an aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan at UH Seidman Cancer Center. She has successfully completed 4 rounds of chemo and begins her 5th round shortly. While the side effects of the treatment are taking a toll, Shelly continues to battle valiantly and inspires all of those around her, including her husband and three children.

HSF was honored to be connected to the Yukich family by Shelly’s sister Melissa, who also introduced us to the McCarthy family many years ago. We were privileged to assist Peyton McCarthy as he battled through extreme challenges throughout his life, including cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. Peyton continues to inspire our work to help others like Shelly.
